FAR AWAY PLACES (in concert) - Janet Seidel Trio

Since the release of her eighteenth CD In September 2013, Sydney based, award winning vocalist, Janet Seidel, has been traveling with her trio featuring the repertoire in concert setting.

Starting with Canberra’s Southern Cross Club, they went on to sold out shows at the Melbourne Recital Centre, country trips in Australia and a 2 week tour of Japan in October, where the CD was also released, reaching No 1 on the Jazz Vocal Charts (Amazon).

The CD features a cosmopolitan repertoire of songs of the era of world travel, with Chuck Morgan and David Seidel providing the music and production along with their friends who are some of Australia’s jazz greats.

On the road, the Trio plays the songs in minimalist format as they have been doing for many years, having CD releases and concert tours including Japan, UK, Europe, SE Asia and the Middle East.

One reviewer at the MRC concert described “a superb recital of very stylish songs from the group’s latest recording Far Away Places. She was passionately backed by her brother David Seidel grooving away on his circa1820 Double Bass and Chuck Morgan wowing everyone on his ex Clara Bow 1927 Ukulele, and his brilliant playing of classic and electric guitars. Janet Seidel’s pure intimate creamy vocals amaze with their great depth, rare clarity and clear purpose. She has the power to soothe and seduce all at once with sensuous sounds that draw you in and hold you magically in her spell.” Caroline McDowell The Culture Concept September 2013

And regarding the music – “The CD of vintage and retro songs take the listener on a romantic journey… the moon on high, palm trees sway in a soft breeze, a night made for romance, Janet’s vocals, Chuck and David’s accompaniment, fresh and about as close to sublime as you can imagine.” Janet Walker, Spotlight Stories, 2013.
